"If you want to understand Finland and its people, getting familiar with sauna is a good starting point."

Yes, we know you might have got familiar with sauna already, at least a little. However, there are many traditions and unwritten rules related to sauna, and for Finns it's a huge part of their culture, it just can't be compared to anything else. The more you do sauna (especially with Finns) the more you understand Finns, their mindset and culture. And yes, sauna is good for your health!

There are saunas in studio apartments, at summer cottages and public swimming pools, gyms and hotels, on boats and buses, but did you know the world's largest smoke sauna is right here in Kuopio? Located in Rauhalahti, this savusauna (smoke sauna) is built in a log cabin and has a cozy atmosphere with a wood heated stove and blackened walls. Some of you might have already visited this place, but why not do it again, you enjoyed it anyway, right? And at least the ones who haven't done this yet, we want all of you to experience this unique sauna, and to make it easy for you, just join us!

So if you have no plans for Tuesday 17th of September join us to enjoy this authentic Finnish tradition together! And if you are brave enough, you can also go for a dip in the lake! After sauna, you can buy a cold beer, sit, and enjoy & sense the feeling of arriving fall.

The student entrance fee to the sauna is 10€ and will be paid at the venue. PLEASE DON'T FORGET YOUR STUDENT ID otherwise the price will be 14€. A towel and a locker are included in the price.

NOTICE: This sauna is public and therefore will be mixed gender. (So you might want to wear your swimsuit, but note it's not obligatory)
